Turns out it was completed in 1970! The Old Bullards Bar dam was completed in 1924, but was only for mining debris storage. At 645 feet tall, the New Bullards Bar dam is the 2nd tallest dam in CA and 5th in the US. (Oroville is No. 1 in both - 770 feet)

Just like Larry proved his, I proved it out (22 years ago) mysefl by scraping up my helmet and leathers when I kissed the road going only about 20 mph - damn glad I was wearing them. I can't imagine biking or ATVing without a skid lid.
