I'm not sure how it will shake out in the 'real world', but bushnell is coming out with some units that display satellite and aerial photos. They sound pretty slick, but who knows how good the units will be. It's only a matter of time before the big names start to have better and more up-to-date map...

Re: Best Video Format for the internet?

since most people use Windows and MicroSoft. Not me! My vote is just about anything BUT wmv. I'm not a big fan of quicktime either, for the same reason (proprietary). mpeg4 and avi(*) are other choices. The type of memory Garmins use depends on the model, but the more recent ones use MicroSD. There's supposed to be a new MapSource Topo coming this year of the entire US in 1:24K which will be incredibly awesome (but probably require me upgrading from my current 8MB Map76 to make use of). I started a...

Uhhh.. Yes and no. The stupid DJs/station should have gotten medical advice before doing a contest where people could potentially die. Clearly they didn't understand how dangerous it is to drink such large quantities of water. Maybe the station and DJs should have cared by doing the research BEFORE ...

Thanks for posting those Ken... Amazing devastation. There was a dirty jobs episode a couple of weeks ago where they were doing some cleanup from the disaster. One thing they explained, that I had always wondered about, was the code painted on the side of all the different houses. Basically, crews w...

ALERT: Buy any small engines before January 1st!

As of January 1st, most small engines under 25HP (i.e. lawn mowers, weed eaters, etc) will have to have catalytic converters etc in California, thanks to a waiver that Feinstein and Boxer put through. Since engines aren't available that meet these standards, it probably means that no small engines c...
