Washington to Meadow Lake

I got to go back to Meadow Lake today. I decided to ride from Washington instead of starting near Lake Bowman. The town of Washington is only 5 easy miles from highway 20 and was a little over 2 hours from my house. It took us about 45 min to get to Lake Bowman. The first 10 miles or so is a nice ma...

Explanation given to a friend at the Truckee Ranger Station: OHVs can only ride on the big numbered roads. Clarification given regarding the difference in the "numbered roads" like "07" vs. the side roads they number like 07-385-13. Those side roads (actually trails) are all closed. They said the o...

Not really sure what isn't included there...as it says "Designated Roads". So as long as it's a road in the USFS system or a county road...not a problem. That's the way I read it also. Sounds like it's ok on any of the forest roads and also the trails in the two OHV areas. All other "trails" are cl...

Fouts Springs in the Mendocino Forest

Here is a nice ride my wife and I made in April 2007. On this ride we took a more difficult road up the hill. When you start out climbing out of the valley it is listed as a "blue" "more difficult" trail. While this is not as hard as a "black diamond" trail it is not for beginners. It is kind of a s...

Fenders Ferry Rd. ride

This one is in a different area. It goes out to a finger of Lake Shasta. We also took a fairly short hike down a rather steep hill to a cave. You can get into the first room but that is as far as you can go. There is a much smaller opening that leads into more of the cave but it has a locked gate bl...

Poker Run 2006

Here is the Poker Run we did in 2006. We had lots of fun on this ride. It is a bit more challenging in some spots. We had to pull my son's 2wd Grizzly 125 up one steep loose hill. One of the sport quad riders spun his tires and caught traction and flipped his quad. A 13 year old friend of the family...

Natural Bridge ride

On this ride we rode out to a Natural Bridge. It is more or less a large rock that has been under cut by water. It is kinda half cave half tunnel. It is a easy ride and a easy short walk to get to the bridge. Here is a Magellan track file. http://us.f13.yahoofs.com/bc/43e02bbdm94b8e8a9/bc/My+Tracks/...

Well here is a try. I was checking out Google Earth and I was wondering if it is possible to save the track to the Google community in a way that would allow us to do more than look at a photo. This is the 13 Dips run that I made. The road continues on till it reaches pavement at Highway 3. Well if ...

I have Magellan GPS tracks. I am not sure how to go about "uploading" them or how to make them available thru the forum.

That's what I wanted to hear. I wasn't sure that just because the campground was open that the road from Bowman was clear of snow. Thanks

Meadow Lake campgrounds open

The Tahoe NF website says that Meadow Lake campgrounds are open. I have been waiting to go back up there since last October. I was just reading on the web about a private campground in Washington CA. It is within easy riding of Meadow Lake and the wife gets pay showers. :D I want to check it out and...

Shasta Rock Rollers trip photos

Well I just got back from the annual Shasta Rock Rollers Summer Picnic. We all had a great time and Alex won the last prize on the Poker run. Lots of different kinds of riding up there. We all camp at the old Wildwood mill site on Highway 36 west of Highway 5. Here are some photos. http://i193.photo...
