Ken I just went to Google Earth and the coordinates I gave you should be pretty close. They showed it as 38 42 18.68 N 120 24 34.95 W. An area they call Stump Springs, Elevation is about 5500 ft. Ok I think I figured it out. I don't know if it is the same for your GPS but mine accepts coordinates a...

Ken here's my GPS for our parking spot, 38.42.309N, 120.24.243W It's a good size wide spot on the left side of the road as you go up. The other day the snow on the road started just beyond that. We had 3 pickups and 1 4Runner with a trailer and still had plenty of room. Easy access for 2wd. I plugg...

Not good. :( No not at all. I am on the same page there for sure. :) Ken here's my GPS for our parking spot, 38.42.309...

Is that something you want to do with your wife and kids..... Safety Dave just got hammered for riding his quad on the street...... Heafty fine. Fine a place that's legal and enjoy your ride without having to look over your shoulders...... Probably not something you wanted to hear....... Otherwise,...

Re: Where is a good place for my first snow ride?

My wife and I would like to go on a ride that would have some snow. Maybe some place that starts out dry and goes up into the snow. I have a 2-wheel drive pickup so we would like to stage somewhere suitable. Try up the Mormon Imigrant Trail/Iron Mountain area. You can drive in as far as you are com...

This sounds like a good place. We are also thinking about Downieville. We might drive up to lake Francis and stay in a cabin for the weekend and drive to the staging area in the morning. We just might have to go on two snow trips. :D Ken

When you say pipi valley I believe you are talking about near the area of Gold Note and Elkins Flat. If you are then yes I was reading the post about the ride someone took back in December. I am not familar enough with the area to know where to start. It is hard to tell by looking at the maps to see...

Where is a good place for my first snow ride?

My wife and I would like to go on a ride that would have some snow. Maybe some place that starts out dry and goes up into the snow. I was reading about the trip to Leek springs and it sounded like what we have in mind. I have a 2-wheel drive pickup so we would like to stage somewhere suitable. When ...

Hello all. I have been lurking around for a while. We have only been riding since last March. My wife and I ride 05 Yamaha Kodiaks. We love to ride the forest roads, what we like to call ATV Backpacking. Where we can we like to load up and camp off our ATVs. I am hoping to learn more about some good...
